Welcome to Hidden Hills

 Greater Hidden Hills Overlay Update
Work continues on the draft. We’ve had three meetings over the summer with Planning Manager Madolyn Spann. We clarified areas that were unclear or left wrong impressions. (Jan Costello attended all three meetings. Pauline Dailey attended two. The steering committee was invited, but because the meetings were held during Ms. Spann’s working hours, the others could not attend).

Next steps:

1. As soon as Ms. Spann is finished with the revisions, we’ll share the revised draft with the public.

2. Comments will be incorporated, and the draft sent to the Planning, Environment and Public Works Committee, of which Commissioner Lee May is chair.

3. The commissioners comments will be incorporated, and the draft will be sent to the DeKalb County Legal Department.

4. Once the legal changes are made, the draft will go to Community Council, the Planning Commission, and the Board of Commissioners. There is a public hearing and vote at each stage.

Design Standards – Volunteers needed
We’re reviewing the design standards that would be the rule new commercial development has to follow. A set of standards must be submitted with the draft. If you would like to review the standards, send an email to HHCAmail@yahoo.com.

We’ll send you the standards used by the Northlake Overlay District. It’s a good place to start. The volunteers will make edits, suggestions, and changes.

Kroger Gas Station
The landscape plans have been shared with the public. We asked Kroger for a meeting to discuss the plans in July and in August. So far, the store manager has not responded. The manager in charge of the fuel center said he would be willing to talk by phone.

The plan is to add landscaped berms around the fuel center. In addition, Kroger will add trees along South Hairston, the Redan Road entrance, and behind the store.

Kroger will ask for a site disturbance permit within the next two weeks. (The company already has permission to build the fuel center.) The company wants to complete the fuel center by the end of the year.

A copy of the plans is attached.
